[ The Northern Beach is where it's at. The Cavern Camp has been reduced to less than half. Isn't that lovely?

Nothing is actually lovely, but they're still here. Anyway! Hello, Akane. Shinobu will approach with a wave and a smile. She won't do that creeping up on thing she does to most other people. Not today. ]

[Well. Today sure happened. This week sure happened!! Even if Shinobu doesn't sneak up on her, Akane seems to be able to notice someone's approaching her as she sits in the sand and watches the waves. She's polite enough that she'll look up and smile back, though she makes no moves to get up.]

Kocho-san. Is it alright if I call you Shinobu? [Akane was born and raised in Japan but she's been separated enough from it that she's defaulted to English names. Still, she notices and figures it's only fair to ask rather than assume like she did yesterday. To the question though...she frowns lightly, though it's more out of thought than out of sadness.] I think we're all doing about as well as we can expect. How are you?

Yes, I don't mind.

[ Shinobu is one for formalities, but she doesn't force it with others, especially if they're older than she is. ]

I suppose you could say I'm determined. [ Is that an emotion? It is now. ] I'm not happy, but I can't let that stop me. I wanted to check in with people, and I wanted to see what they wanted to do in this next week.

[ Since that voice gave them that two week deadline. ]

That's a very smart decision. [She sounds pleased, even, and then pondering, seemingly ticking points off on her fingers as the light glints from the diamond ring on her right hand.] With the inclusion of Zoe, we've lost six people this week alone. And with that girl....Kairi....we started out with twenty-one on this island if I've counted correctly based on who was around yesterday. With fourteen of us left, we will have to lose five more of us in order to fulfill the sacrifce.

If that's the route people want to go. We haven't found another option, have we?

[ She nods. Those numbers are right, as far as Shinobu can tell. ]

We haven't, but I still would like to. I know time is short, but I don't like giving up on that option.

[ ... ]

Kurashiki-san, what's the route you want to travel?

[paradoxity]

I don't think maybe people will give up so easily. [That question though...]

I will do what I have to in order to reach my goals. But I believe there's another way we haven't found yet. [She pauses then to look at her watch in distain.] It wouldn't be fair to sacrifice someone innocent, but there are still multiple murderers out there.

[wisterin]

Yes. Someone pushed Marie-san, and someone started that fire.

[ And someone may have tricked Isabelle into eating fruits poisonous to her only. It's just a grand old time on Murder Island. Shinobu is having a grand time hating it. ]

So we'll have to look out for those who may still be out to murder once more while also trying to finding an alternative route.

[ And you know, those murderers going free could also encourage more to murder. ]

That also doesn't discourage others from murdering each other as well. If people are truly desperate to leave, they may resort to killing knowing we may not catch them. [She'll come right out and say it.]

It then becomes a question of who are we to kill ourselves? Someone who's killed before? Or someone who has killed more recently?

[ Thanks, Akane. Even if Shinobu's smile doesn't falter, that doesn't stop something dark from flashing across her face. ]

Ideally, it won't come to that.

[ But she's not naive. As much as she has hopes, she knows reality isn't quite so lovely and fair. ]

I can't control what others do or think. I can only try to persuade, but at the end of the day, people make their own choices.

Even when you think you've persuaded them...sometimes people will act on their own against the group anyway. [She fiddles with her watch, though it doesn't move very far on her wrist.] Have you been asking everyone about their choices?

Yes, unfortunately, you're right.

[ She shakes her head. ]

I haven't gone to everyone yet.

[ Some, she's already known or made assumptions of based on conversation. Others, well, she has to be in a better mindframe to speak to. ]

But it may be more effective to discuss this as a group at large.

Maybe we should have a meeting tomorrow with everyone? It would help to see where people are and decide on a path from there. If we're all in alignment, our chances of survival are probably higher.

[Also? Then she can see who's down to stab and who to probably avoid/coerce herself.]

I'll talk it over with some people, but I don't think it's a bad idea.

[ Shinobu definitely wants to see who's more down to stab than others, not that she thinks anyone outside of Ogata will show it so openly. ]

If anyone disagrees....then we know exactly where to look if something happens, don't we? [There's a calm, almost strange smile.] Yesterday gave us a better idea of people's motives, I think.

We do, but I doubt anyone would be so quick to show their hand.

[ Even if there is only a week left, but it would be nice! ]

And I suppose there were a few that were quicker to help than others.

You would be surprised what people reveal if they think they can outsmart the group at large. If you can get someone talking long enough...there are tells to follow.

You have people in mind, then? [Share your thoughts, Shinobu.]

I don't care for Ogata-san. [ She's honest, and it's easy to tell anyway. ] It seemed like all he wanted was to get a rise out of someone instead of trying to do anything.

Dimitri-san was forthcoming enough with his help, as was Yin Yu-san. Arisato-sand and Tanzawa-san as well.

[paradoxity]

So you noticed too. [She was also less than impressed with Ogata's behavior.] I'd be surprised if others didn't feel the same.

[There's a slight smile though.] Dimitri especially was helpful, and Neena's always tried to help since we've arrived. I don't know Yin Yu or Minako very well, but...I would like to think we could trust them.

[...but can they?]

He did himself no favors.

[ He's worse than Giyuu, but she's sure Ogata does it on purpose while Giyuu is as oblivious as bread. ]

It's true that someone can be a good actor, but I would like to trust a little first until given a reason to distrust.

[ If she wants people to work together, she has to put that foot forward. Hypocrisy isn't a great look. ]

What would be a reason to distrust, do you think? We don't know each other that well, but most of the people I've spoken to seem kind. We all want the same thing, mostly.
