[ beau's jogging around camp this morning to get the damn aggression out before she punches anything. but she'll slow down for shinobu, with a tired and angry expression. ]
but running it is. beau nods for now, and picks speed back up for now. she's looking to wear herself the fuck out, so she'll run in silence for a good couple of minutes with shinobu, honestly. they can talk after.
shinobu might outlast her, actually, beau's in great shape but she doesn't know all the breathing techniques. ]
[ This Friday has been more than emotional upheaval than most, hasn't it? It's hard to miss Beau's anger, and Shinobu is concerned enough to check on her.
She watches Beau beat up a tree for a moment before she calls out: ]
Would you prefer to fight someone who will fight back?
If it would help you, yes. I know he's important to you, and that was quite the scare. Do you want me to fight with or without my sword? I would keep it sheathed.
[ Shinobu waits until later to check in on Beau. She knows the treatment has to take a while, and Beau needs time to rest after that. She knows that more than enough.
If she's resting or asleep in the infirmary cabin, she sits and waits until Beau wakes up. She can't really manage a smile. ]
[ beau is asleep, when shinobu finds her in the nurse's cabin.
her left eye has a good bit of gauze around it, her right hand is wrapped up tightly and firmly. she's got a shitton of bruises on her face and jaw and she looks like she's lost like half her blood with how pale she is, but she's... alive. and it doesn't take long for her to sense that shinobu is there, either. when she wakes up, she's bleary-eyed and immediately in pain. a long sigh. ]
[ it's evening, and beau is looking for shinobu. she's still kind of a mess, but she's walking better and she's got a cool eyepatch now instead of the miles of gauze. she's also dressed nicely as she can and her hair is brushed neatly over the left side of her face, to cover said eyepatch.
when she finds shinobu, she smiles a little, trying to catch up. ]
[ When she notices Beau, she meets her halfway. Or more than halfway because Beau is the more injured one, and Shinobu's burns are minor and whatever. Whatever the case, she wants to make things easier for Beau. ]
[ Shinobu's cleaned up from treating Giyuu, and she's walking from the Nurse's Office when she comes across Beau.
She smiles in greeting. It's more than how she didn't smile throughout all of the trial on Saturday, but it's also nothing like her usual smiles either. It looks like it'll fade from her lips any second. ]
[ Well, Beau did say she wouldn't mind seeing Shinobu after everything settled. Everything isn't quite settled, but she is a little less volatile by the evening. Her eyes are red, and her hands are freshly bandaged.
The moment she sees Beau, she gives her a tired smile and freezes as soon as they make eye contact.
This memory comes forth. The night of her parents' murder was full of terror and disbelief, as she learned of the existence of demons for the very first time. Through the horror and the grief, the sadness and the heartbreak, there is gratitude when they are saved by a man Shinobu and her sister will later seek. There is also determination once their parents are finally laid to rest respectfully.
That's when the sisters make their promise, the one that Shinobu holds closest and strongest in her heart, the reason why she holds promises as unbreakable.
It's the promise to save as many as she can, to protect fragile happiness as much as she can. ]
[ god, the eye contact just really screwing everybody over.
just like with all of the other memories she's been given today, it makes beau stumble slightly. she pauses, absorbing everything that she saw, taking it in. shinobu's sister. shinobu's parents. and some context, some insight. a deep breath. ]
... Shinobu. [ beau says finally, and there's sympathy there, but - understanding, too. ] I get why promises are important now, I guess.
[ it actually makes her laugh, a stupid snortlaugh that she can't help. her hair is smoldering in the dark, her sunset colored wings fluttering slightly. ]
Maybe. If we do die, I hope it's something dramatic.
week 0, sunday
It's easier to track someone down this way, and once Shinobu has changed, she seeks out a certain someone, raising a hand once she sees Beau. ]
Lionett-san! I received your message.
