It feels to me like our killer tried to minimize "damage", in a way. Picking someone who wasn't very vocal to kill and framing someone who wasn't well-liked.

That we're looking for someone who's careful and cunning? Good at redirecting? Someone who'd choose Yu for a target and Ogata to frame? Certainly so, but it's hard to say who would or wouldn't fit that.

Assuming we're even looking at the evidence correctly.
I think there's a not-insignificant chance it might be the same person. Regardless of what their motivation was, none of the ones we currently know about would lead me to believe that an escaped killer would just stop killing, you know?

We'll just have to see what the following week looks like, if that'll confirm your suspicions or not.

That's true. That is assuming everyone's interpreting the evidence correctly, but who can say? All we know is who didn't do it.
