[ she's in the courtyard with a cup of tea. she's about to raise a hand or something in greeting, but the numbness gets to her and she spills her tea on the ground instead.

[he walks over with a frown, glancing at the spilled tea, watching it sink into the garden. he bends down to grab the cup, at least.]

[ what's up, rupert?

shinobu is exiting her room, and she's in a kimono now. ]

Good afternoon, Rupert-san. Is your new room to your liking?

[agleam]

It's pretty nice, yeah. It definitely feels familiar. What about yours, what's yours like?

[it feels weird to just ask to come in without her offering, but he sounds curious all the same.]

w0, monday.

[agleam]

[time to explore!! he's looking curiously at the large array of doors here in the hallway, stopping by one at random, but he pauses with a wave once he sees shinobu.]

Hey! Excited to see what's new?

[wisterin]

[ she gives a return wave, her smile bright and sharp as ever. ]

Hello, Rupert-san. Excited is one word for it. Wary is another.

week 0, friday

[wisterin]

[ every week someone dies is a hateful one. shinobu paces the hotel to keep her calm. she slows to a stop when she sees rupert. ]

It's happened, hasn't it?

[agleam]

...Yeah.

[he sounds frustrated as he says it - they might have all been guessing that it would happen, but while that might make it easier to anticipate the blow, it doesn't change the circumstances.]

It might not be a shock, but that doesn't make it any less awful.

w0, saturday... 2!

[agleam]

[he's wandering around after all that, but he pauses when he sees shinobu, giving her a short wave after a moment.]

Hey. That was...

[a lot!]

Are you doing alright?

[wisterin]

[ it got very tense at the end. she raises her cup of tea in lieu of a wave. ]

I'm never settled at the end of a trial, but I will be fine.

[ she smiles because she still can, but she is as sad as she is angry. ]

[he's wandering around the new areas that have opened up, and that brings him to aurora barealis, a pun which i personally will fight someone over. anyways, he's glancing around the interior, but pausing when he hears laughter that he can't quite place.]

...Did you hear that?

[wisterin]

[ until you said it was a pun, i kept reading it as borealis because i can't read. this feels like a sisi or ty pun.

shinobu is trying to decide if she should attempt to move the velvet curtains when rupert asks his question. she pauses to listen. ]

More illusions?

w1, thursday.

[agleam]

[here he is in the void! presumably by now he has gotten a change of clothes and washed all the blood off; the wound on his arm and back are hidden by what he's wearing now, but he still has a patch of gauze pressed over his left eye socket.

when he sees shinobu, he pauses.]

...Hi.

[less pained, more tired.]

Oh, Rupert. Let's sit somewhere, shall we?

[ she is going to gently guide him to a seat. somewhere in this void. ]

[ things are just peachy, if peaches are rotten. shinobu isn't feeling great, but how many are after today's trial?

she's seated somewhere with some tea, and she smiles up at rupert whenever she sees him. ]

How are you?

[agleam]

...I don't think anybody's feeling great after that.

[the bracket text is correct. he'll come over to take a seat nearby, though.]

week 2, tuesday or wednesday you can choose

[ it's a new week! there are wisteria trees! shinobu is going to be by them half the time. she looks a bit more at peace than she has been, if anyone could tell behind her frequent smiling. ]

Would you like to join me for a small snack, Rupert-san?

[ a small picnic underneath the wisteria. also, how does rupert look now in comparison to last thursday? ]

tuesday works!!

[agleam]

[it seems like he's moving a little bit easier! the wounds on his back and arm are covered by his shirt, so it's hard to see whether they've improved or not, and he's got an eyepatch as opposed to gauze there. the scarring around his wrist that he had her examine hasn't changed or faded at all.

regardless, he gives a smile and a nod, heading over.]

That sounds great! Next time it's my treat.

week 2, saturday

[wisterin]

[ shinobu is pretty much keeping to the courtyard tonight for soothing wisteria vibes. she feels terrible for the scapegoat, so the trees can only do so much, even as she sits, leaning against a trunk, looking almost as if she wants the tree to consume her. ]

Rupert-san, did your last group ever vote incorrectly?

[agleam]

[he nods, with a frown.]

We did, yeah... The second week we were all there. Did you?

w3, monday

[wisterin]

[ in front of the revolving door that will lead to wiwaldi, shinobu looks over at rupert. ]

Does going back give you bad memories?

[ is that too on the nose? a shower of stardust covers them (cw: blood, mentions of vore). ]

[agleam]

It—

[he's about to answer, before the memory happens. coming back from all that rage, all that pain, takes a second - but once it's completely over, he pauses, looking impressed for a brief moment before he looks incredibly concerned.]

Shinobu - were you alright?!

[agleam]

[here we are in the void! the mood in the void is bad on this, the day of three bodies. when he sees shinobu, though:]

...How are you holding up?

[wisterin]

[ what about her? what about you, rupert? that's 2 season bodies out there. ]

... Just the other day, I was talking to someone about how I was surprised it had been only one death a week, and now...

[ this. ]

[wisterin]

[ it's the void. a weekend after three deaths is never great. the vibes are what you expect after every execution. ]

How are you doing?

[agleam]

...It was hard to watch.

[it always is, but the stabbing...]

[ shinobu opens the door to the casino, peers in, and closes it.

[he asks, reaching for her hand.]

[the door to her room is open, but he knocks regardless to be polite.]

[ from where she is resting on her bed like a good girl: ]

[wisterin]

[ what's up, rupert. they only have so many places they can be tonight. she grabs his hand immediately upon seeing him.

they're spending time together!! ]

It's going to end well, don't you think?

[ she sounds hopeful. ]

[agleam]

[hand holding! he looks happy to see her, and fond as well.]

Yeah. I can feel the happy ending coming on.
