Especially in places like this. [ she thinks about how salty the dead at the camp were. they weren't invalid, but shinobu was in an odd place in the graveyard. ]
In a lot of ways, the more you get along with others, the better off you'll be.
Seems like those who had to deal with coercion got a more easily excusable end of the deal. From what I’m able to tell, at least.
[ unlike rings where everyone was just an Ass. god bless. ]
One of the fundamentals of society, I think. Move within a social circle in a way that endears you to everyone, and you’ll find yourself with more power, more options and more people to rely. Whether you really are the way you act or not.
No. Murders on the station were all down to the individual, no coercion involved. There was a promise of power, and it counted as an indulgence so it went towards claiming our wish.
A lot of people here talk about angelic interference, possession, a loss of control… a lot of reasons why someone wouldn’t be fully in control of their actions.
[ shinobu would've hated half the station. to murder for the promise of power is very demon-like.
her smile is too bright, too sharp. ]
It takes some of culpability if there's outside interference like that. At the camp, someone had to die every week or else everyone would. You can't look for a solution, if there's no one to look for one.
It does. I’m not sure I like it — focusing your anger, whether to fan it, or heal it, is difficult when the person you want to hate isn’t necessarily culpable for what they did. It is a lot easier to reconcile things if people were in control of their actions.
Then again, the world’s not simple so why should the issue of people’s guilt be either? [ boo! ]
… Now that one sounds especially cruel. There was a solution, but the solution was just more killing.
It takes something away from the victims who didn't ask to be killed. The ones who were influenced didn't ask to kill either, but.... [ she smiles. ] The world is unfair and unjust.
[ and she can only do her best to protect and save what little she can. ]
There needed to a certain amount of suffering. A threshold that had to be passed before things could culminate.
… Exactly that. A shame that seems to be the one big consistent across the board. If the world can screw you over, it will.
[ … ]
And now here we are, stuck in the same situation for “entertainment”. If there’s a threshold for that as well, then this host of ours is truly a twisted individual.

No one at camp was.... coerced in the way that some others were, but it was more or less an ultimatum.
